Text from Rupert Hine "Immunity" CD, A&M 394 858-2, 1981/2. This album was originally recorded on 30 ips Dolby analogue tape and has been completely remastered on to digital tape by Arun Chakraverty and myself. The remastering process provided an excellent opportunity to "reclaim" some elements of the overall "sound-picture" previously lost in the transfer to vinyl. This process has also enabled me to revert to the original versions of two particular tracks, "I Think A Man Will Hang Soon" and "Make A Wish". Both mixes were deemed "too scary" at the time and I was accused of rubbing dramatic salt into musical wounds. The voices in the middle sequence of "Make A Wish" (where a computer re-educates a post-apocalyptic sub-human) are essential to "the plot" and make a welcome return, at least for me! The extra track "Scratching At Success" was available as a B side for a limited period in 1982. The recording is included here, as much for the interest of hearing the voice of my long term lyricist and collaborator, Jeannette Obstoj (albeit on the telephone) as for its undeniably "immune" mood. There are strange and unidentifiable sounds on this disc generally, rest assured, they *are* intentional. The same care and attention will shortly be applied to remastering "Waving Not Drowning" and "Wildest Wish To Fly" for compact disc. Rupert Hine, March 1989.
